River Deben

In my childhood in Suffolk we used to inflate old Lorry inner tubes and take them to the beach. Going back there last year reminded me of this and an idea I had at the time of taking them along the River Deben from Woodbridge to Bawdsey. I did a little searching online and came up with an inflatable Canoe (much more advanced!) and just completed that trip. Although not always in that direction and not all on the same day!

(Filmed on my mobile phone)

Hot Air Balloon Ride

Hot Air Ballooning is one of the great ways of experiencing aviation as it was in the very early days.

(It can also be made even more exciting like this!)

'Old Man of Hoy'

One Saturday afternoon in May 2008 Roger had a call from his friend Tim, 4 days later they and their friend Gus were climbing the ‘Old Man of Hoy’ in the Orkney Islands. 7 hours after starting their climb Tim reached the top shortly followed by Roger, Gus and all their BASE-jumping gear. 15secs later they were back on the ground! Another first for Roger Holmes and friends!

Bedford 2006

The first British Base Jumping event was arranged by UKProBASE and held at the Bedford River Festival in the summer of 2006. Sky News came to film the event – catching Roger jumping from NMT’s 300-foot crane.

Bike Jump!

Roger Holmes Mountain biked off the 360-foot high Beachy Head cliff in the UK with his BASE rig (Sky News also filmed this!). Roger said this was one of the most 'unusual' jumps he has made and enjoyed it that much he used his second bike to do it again later the same day. The frame on the first bike survived, after a new pair of forks and rear wheel Roger still rides it today!

Rodeo Jump

Roger Holmes teamed up with James Boole of 'Air to Air' and performed the First BASE rodeo jump in Italy and only the second time this has been successfully achieved in the world! They Launched from an over hung cliff 1700 feet to impact and stayed together for 10 seconds before Roger deployed his parachute off James’s back, allowing James to fly his Wingsuit clear of the cliff and deploy his parachute.

The Gorge

Roger Holmes & His friend Tim Emmett went to this 350-foot high Gorge to perform the First ‘Two way’ (Two people jumping at the same time) into one of the most challenging jumps there is (for one person!) This was one of the most intense jumps the two had performed in their BASE-jumping career!
